How We Land on a Score
Readers ask about our ratings all the time, so here's the honest version. The number comes last, after we've played, argued, and written the review. We don't have a rigid formula. Instead we weigh a few things: does the game do what it promises, does it respect your time, and would we keep playing after the review is filed? A 4.7 means we'd genuinely recommend it and probably still open it for fun. A score in the high threes means it's fine but flawed — worth trying if the genre is your thing. We try never to over-score a polished but hollow game, and never to punish a rough indie that has one truly great idea. Ironline Defenders scores high not because it's flawless, but because its core idea is that good. The score is a shortcut. The words around it are where the real opinion lives, so read those before you trust the number.
